This was another sporadic read for me. It was a freebie on Amazon a couple days ago and the blurb just intrigued me. Plus I found the cover to be very hauntingly beautiful, too; as it turns out, the story was very similar. There were so many things I enjoyed about this story. The Hero, Will, is AMAZING. He’s patient, loving, sweet and has loved our heroine, Serena since she was fourteen years old. He’s never forgiven himself for what happened to her. Seven years later, he has been given a chance to, not only be there for her, but to love her as well. 

“It’s simple really. If the voices only come after I kiss you, then the only logical solution is to never stop.” ~ Will 

Serena was brutally attacked and raped at only fourteen years old. The traumatic experience left her blind and without any recollection of the event itself. Her family has been overbearing since the attack and she has had enough. She finally has the courage to move out and be on her own. With the support of her Aunt, Serena gets her chance. To her surprise, her new roommate to be is none other than her high school crush, and her brothers’ best friend, Will Duncan. 

Slowly with Will’s help, she is starting to live. Her trust in men is one big hurdle for Will to overcome, but he is a patient man and he wants nothing but to be a part of Serena’s life. The only person hindering her progress is her older sister, McKinley. I’m going to take my opportunity right now and say McKinley is one wicked Bitch (with a Capital B). I’ve never met such a selfish, manipulative, cold-hearted villain, ever! Ugh I fucking hated her. Not only does she want Will for herself, but wants to stop him from helping Serena remember what happened the night of the attack. What is she hiding from her? And what role did Will play that night? 

This is where the running stops, she told herself. This is where your life begins. 

When Serena finally gives Will a chance, my heart just melted. Will is wonderful and he only had Serena’s best interest at heart. I LOVE him. As for McKinley, she is one Grade A Bitch. I cannot say that enough. As much as I enjoyed the story, the ending was kinda too abrupt for me. I felt like justice could’ve been given. Call me vengeful, but after I found out what role McKinley played in her sister’s rape, I wanted her head to roll! That was kind of disappointing. Aside from that, it was pretty good, emotional read. 

Escorted (Escorted #1) by Claire Kent

She assumes one time with Ander will be enough, but she never dreams how much pleasure he can make her feel. Once isn't nearly enough. Twice isn't enough either. Soon, she becomes one of his regular clients.

Lori knows that nothing would be as foolish as falling in love with her paid escort, but she's never been wise with her heart. And, despite his professionalism, he doesn't seem entirely immune either.

The tension wasn’t just arousal. Wasn’t lust or impatience. It was emotion.

I’m a fan Gigolo Heroes so I figured I’d give this one a shot. Often times, these books are predictable, steamy and full of emotion: All of which are just fine by me. Sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered. How could a story featuring a hot sex god falling for the innocent woman not be good? Okay, maybe things can go wrong, but luckily this wasn’t one of them. It was far from a perfect story and it could’ve used a extra something, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. 

“You taught me how to have sex, how to have an orgasm, how to use my trusty vibrator, how to get myself off, how to use dozens of sexual positions, how to give a blow job, and how to ice skate.” ~ Lori 

Lori is a famous romance novelist looking to finally get rid of V-card. The reasoning behind why she remained one is believable enough, but still…twenty-six! Wow. Since it has taken her this long to lose it, every time she gets close to a man, her anxiety kicks in and pretty much ruins the chances of getting intimate. She’s so sick and tired of having this problem that she just wants to freaking lose it already! So her solution…hire a male escort. Enter Ander.

“You taught me how to be with someone genuinely, how to enjoy sex, how to express emotion, how to value myself, how to feel, how to love, how to trust. How to live. You’re never going to win this game.” ~ Ander 

Ander has been a long time male escort and very good at this job. When he meets Lori, something about her innocence intrigues him. He was very patient with Lori during her first time, but at the same time came off a little too clinical for me. It was almost like a “How To” guide to lose your V-card safely and effectively. Don’t get me wrong it was still hot. 

So finally, Lori loses “it.” So what now? She’s still self conscious about her abilities so her only solution is to continue to hire Ander…you know, to practice. (Hey, if you have the means and money, why not?!) However, the more encounters Ander and Lori have, they do start to develop a sort of friendship. Their road to a relationship is a very slow one and doesn’t happen overnight. 

The story contained a whole lot of sexy, steamy scenes, but I enjoyed the times where Lori and Ander were making another type of connection. I loved Ander. He tried to remain professional with Lori, but it was refreshing to see him starting to break out of that shell and show her the real him. This was a pretty quick read and after I got over that whole dental damfiasco (don’t ask, I’m naïve…had to Google that one), I actually did enjoy this.

Wait for You (Wait for You #1) by J. Lynn

Some things are worth waiting for…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

“No,” I whispered.

And then the dimple appeared in his cheek, and I let out the breath I was holding. He started up the steps. “There’s always tomorrow.”

I followed him. “Tomorrow’s not going to change anything.”

“We’ll see.”

“There’s nothing to see. You’re wasting your time.”

“When it concerns you, it’s never a waste of my time,” he replied. 

Le Sigh. The very first thing I have to say is that I FUCKING LOVE CAMERON! Ok, there I said it. Sorry folks, but I had to get that out first. Cameron has joined my elite ultimate book boyfriend shelf. He made this story awesome. 

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, onto my review :)

“If a cookie was a code word, whatever it symbolizes, it’s been in your mouth, sweetheart.” ~ Cam 

Fine. I confess. Cam never really left my system. LOL. I love him too much to not repeat some of his memorable lines. Seriously. The guy can get underneath your skin like no other. He’s beyond swoon-worthy with his adorable dimple, his sexy smirk, his tattoo, his abs, his ability to cook eggs and his pet tortoise, Raphael: He was just simply fucking adorable! **sigh**

Anyway… **giggle**

He first met Avery when she accidently ran into him on her way to their Astronomy class. It also turned out that he lived down the hall in the same apartment building as she. It seemed like Avery couldn’t shake this guy loose, but then again why would you want to. But then again, Avery is a whole new level of messed up.

Avery. OMG. There were times where I wanted to slap her. I’m telling ya’ll right now: You need all the patience in the world to deal with Avery. Seriously. What is up with these heroines I’ve been reading lately? My palms have been twitching a lot lately. Sheesh! I know, I know, she has issues, like huge, massive ones. She’s attending college far, far away from home because she is running away from her past; life in her hometown has simply become unbearable. After an incident at a Halloween party when she was fourteen has left her with no friends, and an unsupportive family. No wonder she’s one hot mess. Then along comes Cam and slowly, like really, really slowly her life begins to shift for the better. 

“I’m serious about you, Avery. If you want me for real, you have me.”

Closing my eyes, I placed my hands on his chest. “I want you for real.” 

I LOVE Jennifer Armentrout’s style: She’s able to create memorable characters and her execution of telling a story is near flawless. Though there were definite fun times and laughter in this story, which is classic Armentrout style, there were some very mature subject matters that were dealt here. I would like to dive into them, but alas, I cannot do that without giving out spoilers. Though I was expecting more of an adult novel, this read more like a New Adult/Mature YA book: Yes, there were smexy scenes, but not as much as they were in her previous J. Lynn books. 

I must confess, the first 70% of the book, you were left in an unending state of unsatisfied bliss. LOL. In other words: Sexually frustrated! Not to mention the emotional toll the story took: I was spent. No seriously, this book will do that to you. 

Sexual frustration aside, the first 55-60% was awesome. Cam was awesome. He made this book. The middle part, like 60-70% in, I started to become depressed and the book just took on a whole new gloomy path. After the 70% mark, it started to pick up again. It seemed like ages for my emotional heart to beat again. This was definitely one roller coaster ride of a story, but overall, I really and truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. Just remember to pack a fuck load of patience; cuz Avery’s character will drive you insane. lol

Code Red by Amy Noelle

Code Red: It was our way of forming a support group and to keep ourselves from falling for Mr. Wrong.

Someone had recommended this book to me stating that it was similar to Alice Clayton. I, being a huge fan of Ms. Clayton, couldn’t resist the draw of a contemporary romance with a ton of laughs. This book had a lot of potential: Hot Hero, likeable and relatable heroine, building sexual tension, and a ton of kick ass secondary characters. I couldn’t wait to dive in. 

Good-looking men were my kryptonite, and my friends were the antidote. I needed them. 

Nicole needed her circle of friends more than ever. Her last relationship ended in disaster. After that, she vowed never to let any man get close to her ever again; she will never be hurt again. This is when Code Red was first implemented. With the support of her friends, she can withstand any man. However, as the years passed, her friends have slowly succumbed to the whims of man and are now happily married. Out of her circle of friends, only her and her BFF Jen remain single. 

One damn smile, one stupid touch, and I was ready to throw him down on the desk and mount him. 

When Josh Daniels storms into Nicole’s life, she feels not only feels the tingles of lust and desire, but something else as well…something, more. To say Nicole is freaking out would be an understatement. She’s called a Code Red. This is going to get interesting. 

“You terrify me. You have from the first moment, because I think I knew I was going to fall for you. And I did.” 

I loved Josh. The only thing that bothered me about him was that he was almost too patient with Nicole. She is such a hot mess. She tried and tried to do whatever she could to not fall for Josh.Code Reds were flying everywhere in this book. It was actually starting to get ridiculous. 

Could a person die of sexual frustration? Because if they could, I was going down, no lie. 

I liked this story. It had a good amount of humor, plus Nicole and her friends were awesome for the most part. I could easily picture myself as part of their group. They are a hilarious group of girls. However, as much as I loved the connection between all of them, it wasn’t enough for me. I started to get frustrated. You knew where the story was headed, but MAN, did it took FOR-EV-EVER to get there. This was definitely one sexually frustrating story. Nicole’s character, as much as I liked her, I wanted to smack some sense into her. There were countless times where I was just like, “What the frick is your problem?! Can’t you see how into you he is?!” Gahhhh!! And when, finally, Josh and Nicole finally got together, it felt like it was a little too late. It kinda lost its entire muster. **sigh** Anyway…like I said, for the most part, this was an entertaining read with an HEA that left me smiling.

I suppose I might never have known or believed that love could be so strong if I hadn’t seen it dragged through this hell. Now I know that love can truly endure anything. 

You know that feeling of finally finding a book that consumes you? That brings you out of that book funk? And when it ends, you’re in a haze. Not only because the story is over, but you’re sad that the journey you took has reached completion and now you’re back to that pesky ole book funk? Yep. That’s me right here, right now. I’m in a sort of daze at the moment, but I feel compelled to write this review now because I know I just couldn’t wait to spread the word on how much I loved this story. I will warn you right now though: The Love story between Sparrow and Ian is not a pretty one. There were times where I was smiling and laughing one minute, then angry and extremely hurt the next. It was emotional, raw and just flat out addictive. 

“You have this grounding quality about you. I don’t know a better way to put it. It levels me. I’ve never been at home anywhere, but I am with you.” ~ Ian 

The story begins with Sparrow and Ian cosmically meeting, again. They have met before, several times to be exact, but this meeting was different. We instantly find out that Ian broke Sparrow’s heart, but how? 

Sparrow first met Ian when she was only eighteen years old. Even though she was already in a relationship at the time, the first time she meets Ian, she knew her life would never be the same. The connection they have is instantaneous. At this point in her life, Sparrow is just about to graduate and move to New York with her best friend, Tessa, to start college. Lots of changes are happening to Sparrow and throwing Ian into the mixture just made things a whole lot more interesting. 

“But seeing you, being near you, talking to you, hearing your laugh, watching your lips move, all of it. I felt awake. Alive. Crazed, almost. And I haven’t known what to do with it. Seeing you each time, it just intensifies, which never happens for me. With you, I just want more – instead of wanting to run, I want more" ~ Ian 

Ian is a famous guitarist and songwriter. Through a series of events, Sparrow and Ian find themselves together at random times. Family gatherings, ski trips…they constantly run into each other; never really planning on running into each other. But when given the opportunity to be together, they take it. Ian isn’t really the “relationship” type, but he knows what he has with Sparrow is something special and he does not want to lose what he finds in her. She knows that they’ll be apart a lot, but they both decide to start a relationship, without really officially forming one. Don’t worry, it’ll all make sense once you read this. When Ian and Sparrow are together, they really are together. There is no doubt that these two are in love. The intensity of their relationship slowly grows with every encounter, but the talk of committing was never really fully discussed. Where is their relationship headed?

“I’m not a good person, Sparrow. I…I’m not. I look at you and I see all the good and I know that I could never deserve someone like you.” ~ Ian 

Reading this story through Sparrow’s eyes, you felt everything that she felt. When Ian broke her heart, my heart broke as well. We both fell hard for him. I was so angry with some of the things he did; I didn’t think he was redeemable. However, there was always a flicker of light that kept on shining no matter how dark the times were. Ian is a broken man, I understood that. As for Sparrow, she knew what she was getting herself into. You prayed for a smooth road, but deep down you knew something was going to happen. Sorry if that’s spoilish, but every story has drama, and this one was no exception. 

I loved this story, I really do. It wasn’t a perfect five start read, but it was close. This story will make you smile and Ian will make you melt. However, you will get angry and you will hurt when you read this. I think that’s why I loved it so much. Putting my heart in a blender does have it’s perks…you feel alive, Crazed, almost and I do admire that in a story.
