REVIEW~ Debt by Nina G. Jones

I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it.

It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over.

Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.

———————

My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer.

She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt.

It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated.

Very complicated.
FIVE EXPLOSIVE STARS

Pivot

Mind. FUCKED.

Libido. FUCKED.

This story is dark, twisted, dirty, explicit and completely raw and I fucking loved every single minute of it.

I didn’t just want rough, I wanted painful, I wanted degradation. i wanted someone to take me out of my head. No – force me out of my head. To violently thrust me away from convention. I am so “together” and I have always wanted to find someone who would make me a chaotic mess.

Mia wanted some excitement in her life. She wanted to indulge in her dark fantasy of being forcefully taken. After her best friend recommended a service specializing in fulfilling dark fantasies, she decides to take the plunge and hire someone to rape her.

Everything is carefully planned, including safewords and questions. Though to keep things more realistic, the client won’t know exactly when the event will take place, but does have a general idea of how it’ll happen. When time comes, Mia is certainly taken by surprise, and the man exceeding all her erotic expectations. However, when her actual hired attacker comes for her, she’s shocked to find out that her first encounter wasn’t the man she hired, but another predator all together.

I am good for two things: scheming and fucking.

Tax Draconi had different plans for Mia when he showed up at her home. A plan that included a knife and he covered her blood. Instead he found her begging for his touch, begging to be taken – rough and violently hard. He should’ve ended her life then and there and ruin her like she ruined his and his sister’s life. This was fourteen-years in the making, but instead a new plan arises. She will still pay her debt.

His words are terrifying, yet oddly assuring. He already knows my dirtiest secret. He is my dirtiest secret.
“Now suck, you little slut.”

When Mia walks into the conference room, ready to meet her new boss, his snake tattoo is a dead giveaway. The man standing before her is the man who shattered her world. She’s ready to leave the job she’s always loved, but Tax is blackmailing her to stay. She is in his debt, but doesn’t know why. What does he want from her?

I have never liked or even loved anyone the way I hate Tax Draconi.

Tax has invaded her life and there is no way out. She must stay and take his punishment. When he takes her, its often cruel, brutal and often humiliating. But what angers her the most is that every encounter awakens her; he makes her feel alive. She can’t deny how her body responds to him, or his to hers. She isn’t the only one fighting. Tax is slowly breaking down. This wasn’t in the plan. Nothing is making sense.

It’s come full circle: the girl who set me on the path of destruction can be my redemption.

I stayed up until 3:30AM to finish this book. I haven’t done that, in what feels like, forever. As you can tell, the premise of this story is unique, to say the least. But what got me the flipping the pages is how the author executed the story—it was flawless. This book is the reason why I love dark romance so much. Now, no worries, this isn’t as dark as some other dark romance out there, but it does have some elements that might make you uncomfortable, so be warned! It did test my comfort level, but it still had the capabilities to turn my emotions and libido inside out. Yea...did I mention this was HOT?! HOLY FUCK was this story HOT. Ms. Jones, where have you been all my life? I can’t wait to check out your other books and see what you write next!

Falling for the Enemy by Samanthe Beck Release Day ARC #Review

Title: Falling for the Enemy
Author: Samanthe Beck
Series: Private Pleasures #3
Publisher: Entangled Publishing Brazen imprint
Release Date: December 1, 2014

Synopsis:
Caught between a rock and a rock-hard body…

Salon owner Virginia Boca has declared herself celibate...at least until she wins the election for mayor of Bluelick, Kentucky. No hot men. No sex. And her plan to play the good girl might have worked—if the mysterious, hard-bodied stranger she’s seen around town hadn't pulled her from the street and saved her life. The least Ginny can do is offer her savior a free haircut. But when an innocent haircut turns into hours of wickedly hot sex, former Navy SEAL Shaun Buchanan knows his plan to keep a low profile is shot. Especially once Ginny finds out he’s the current mayor's son. With her reputation and the election on the line, Ginny seems determined to keep their nightly sexcapades a secret, but Shaun’s not willing to stay in the shadows forever…

You’ve GOT to meet Wolverine!!!

Falling for the Enemy can be read as a stand-alone, but having read Light Her Fire (Private Pleasures #2), Samanthe Beck introduced and teased us with a minor character. Ginny nicknamed him Wolverine, and I was left wondering who the heck this dark, mysterious, and intriguing character is? Let me have his story, please! Well, Ms. Beck did not disappoint. Y’all need to meet Wolverine…ahem…ex-US Navy SEAL Shaun Buchanan!!!

Ginny is trying to stay on her self-imposed sex hiatus, since she’s running for mayor and all. She doesn’t want any dirty little secrets to come out during her campaign. Understandable, right? When Wolverine becomes her savior, they know very little about each other, and give into their desire and lust many times. He doesn’t know she’s running for mayor, and she doesn’t know he’s the current mayor’s son, oops!

It was really great to be back in the small town of Bluelick, Kentucky again in this book. Samanthe Beck wrote a story with a fun don’t-want-to-be-caught-in-a-compromising-position type of plot. Fans of her stories know she can write super sexy scenes, and there are plenty of nice, steamy ones in Falling for the Enemy, because…

…“Wolverine’s got skills.”

Yes, yes he does!!!

Blog Tour ~ Hard to Come By (Hard Ink 3) by Laura Kaye ARC Review

Title: HARD TO COME BY
Author: Laura Kaye
Series: Hard Ink #3
Release Date: November 25, 2014

Synopsis:
Caught between desire and loyalty…

Derek DiMarzio would do anything for the members of his disgraced Special Forces team—sacrifice his body, help a former teammate with a covert operation to restore their honor, and even go behind enemy lines. He just never expected to want the beautiful woman he found there.

When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he's become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

Five Stars

An absolute Hard Ink page turner!

Hard To Come By is Derek DeMarzio’s story. While fighting in Afghanistan, Derek (a.k.a Marz) lost a leg while protecting his friend. Just knowing that bit of info, you get an idea of the kind of person he is. Not only is Derek loyal to those he cares about, but also he’s the first to make everyone laugh. He’s just an all around great guy who tries to find the silver lining in everything. I was delighted that he gets paired with someone like Emilie Garza, because she’s one helluva strong heroine!

The quest for truth leads the Hard Ink team in search for Emilie’s older brother, Manny. When Emilie meets Derek, her life is forever changed in dramatic fashion. Both their backgrounds twisted my heart, and both have to overcome the issue of trusting one another. While reading, I just fell more and more in love with the idea of these two together. The timeline is quick, but Laura Kaye still takes the time to carve out their romance at an acceptable and believable pace. The emotions drawn out for them seemed pretty convincing for the tense situation they’re all in. I appreciate how Ms. Kaye is able to do that in her writing.

One of the things I absolutely adored in this book is that we get a little more of Beckett Murda! He’s been quiet throughout the series, but he’s got a lot to say this time. So much goes on with the series arc in this installment that will leave fans satisfied and craving for more!

I love, love, love this series! Again, Laura Kaye has managed to keep me turning the pages with the perfect balance of action, suspense, tension, and steam. So far each book has been incredibly addicting. If you haven’t met the Hard Ink men yet, you really should!

Release Blitz ~ Law of Moses by Amy Harmon #5Greats

Cover design by: Hang Le

If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know it’s coming, and it will hurt. But you’ll be able to prepare.

Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news – the little baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like he’d been broken at birth. I knew that wasn’t what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start.

It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.

And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn’t stay away.

And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all...a love story.
