I’m Beauty, and there are three things in the world I love more than money.
The freedom it gives me on the open road, the power it yields, and the self-sufficiency it provides. Which is why I’ll fight for it, steal for it, maybe even die for it. One thing I’ll never do is give it up – not even for Chase Riley, the sexy, cautious yet curious hitchhiker who wandered into my life and stole my heart in the wrong place, at the wrong time. But I will share it, if he’s willing. All he has to do is learn to look the other way and cross over to the dark side.
And maybe stay there.
There’s no limit to what my partner Bunny and I will do to make our dreams reality. No boundaries we won’t cross, no lies we won’t tell. Chase won’t be the same when this is all over, but I can’t say I’m sorry he came along for the ride. I only hope I don’t lose myself with him—and that I can sleep at night knowing I’m responsible for the corruption. But love is always a thin line. Always a gamble. You win some, you lose some. The trick is to know when you’ve lost the battle. But some bonds run so deep, it’s hard to know when to wave the white flag.
Here’s to hoping I never have to.

Undefeated (Bomb Squad 2) by Melissa Cutler ARC #Review

Title: Undefeated
Author: Melissa Cutler
Series: Bomb Squad #2
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance
Release Date: November 18, 2014

Synopsis:
Welcome to Destiny Falls, New York, home of Bomb Squad—an ice hockey team full of rugged military heroes. The team’s battling a losing streak, but the season’s biggest game changer is one player’s second chance with the one who got away…

Yoga instructor Marlena Brodie is always up for a challenge, and her new job of snapping Bomb Squad out of their rut is definitely that, even though it means being in close contact with Liam McAllister, her high school crush gone bad. She can feel the damage pouring off of him—but also a wild and sexy strength that calls to her.

The Army turned Liam McAllister into a man, but as a combat medic, he saw far too much to ever be whole again. He’s not interested in the civilian world beyond his job as a carpenter, but he never stopped wondering what might have been with Marlena—and it isn’t long before she’s crashed through his carefully constructed walls. He longs for a new beginning with her, but to be the man she deserves, he’ll have to step out of his defensive zone and score the most important play of his life…

5 Stars

Melissa Cutler never ceases to amaze me with how she can write an intense romance, because Undefeated was a HUGE hit for me!!!

I knew going in that ex-Army medic, Liam McAllister, was so broken on the inside. There’s good reason why he hides a side of himself from everyone. I can’t even begin to relate to the level of PTSD he experiences, but Ms. Cutler was able to paint the raw and deep emotions of what he deals with on a daily basis. Now, I related to yoga instructor, Marlena Brodie, so well. I understood her way of thinking and listening to what the universe is trying to say. She has her own issues to deal with, too, and I appreciated how the subject of bi-polar disorder was tied into the plot. I love Liam and Marlena together! I like it when the author can show two people struggling individually find a way to make it work throughout their journey together. Ms. Cutler pulls that off in this story. Plus, it leaves you with a full feeling of hope for people in similar situations.

The Bomb Squad series is about a hockey team of wounded veterans. We get nice ice action in this one, as well as, heart-pounding moments. The sense of brotherhood and friendship between the characters is very much kept alive. I fell in love with the small town of Destiny Falls in book 1, Risky Business. Undefeated made me love the place and people even more!

Yes, this book can most certainly be read as a stand-alone. If you like hockey players and ex-military heroes in your romances, then you NEED to be reading this series! I can’t wait for the next book!

Lastly, a romance story with a hockey player is mighty fine, but there is something about a guy that does yoga that is super HOT…just sayin’!

A review copy was received from publisher. This is my honest review.

About the author
Melissa Cutler knows she has the best job in the world, dividing her time between her dual passions for writing sexy contemporary romances and edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense for Harlequin, Penguin, St. Martin’s Press, and Kensington Books. She was struck at an early age by an unrelenting travel bug and is probably planning her next vacation as you read this. When she’s not globetrotting, she’s enjoying Southern California’s flip-flop wearing weather and wrangling two rambunctious kids.

Review ~ Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn

On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.

From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.

And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.

So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.

Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.
Five HUGE CRACK BOOK Stars

“A story about a man who has loved me from the very beginning, from the first glance. The man who always was and still is my soul mate. That’s the only love story now.”

DAMN. That was a fucking brilliant!!

This book has brought me out of my MASSIVE book funk only to put me back into another one. Fuck! My head is still spinning. And just when I think it the rollercoaster was over, I entered another tunnel and was thrust into a whole new are-you-fucking-kidding-me! moment.

Just.
Fucking.
Wow.

“Why me? It’s obvious you can have any woman you want. Why do you want me, Grizz? Truthfully. Why?

Guinevere should’ve known better and not have gotten on back of that motorcycle. She should’ve just waited for her stepdad to pick her up.
But she didn’t. Instead she got on back that motorcycle and before she could stop it, her life is forever changed.

Guinevere, now known as Kit to the MC, was initially told that she was just a “thank you” gift to Grizz, the MC’s leader. What you slowly find out is that her abduction was carefully planned and coordinated by Grizz himself.

Grizz. Oh, Grizz. He is one badass motherfucker and no one fucked with him without facing the consequences. He is an anomaly, really. He could be completely sadistic one minute and tender the next. God! I loved him.

I was starting to go under again. I quickly opened my eyes in an attempt to stay awake. But to no avail. They were slowly closing. As they were closing for the last time and I was losing consciousness, I was certain I saw tears in his eyes.

Here are a few words of caution before you decide to pick up this book:
~ I’m going to be honest. The prologue...it was a bit tough to read, and I almost gave up because of what it divulged. However, with that said, if you feel the same way...DO NOT GIVE UP! KEEP READING!! I promise you, you will not regret it.
~ If underage sex bothers you, then you will be uncomfortable with this storyline, especially since the heroine is fifteen years old when she gets abducted.
~ There is a good amount of violence and other objectionable situations that I even cringed at, including rape and torture.

“Let’s get this shit over with.”

This story will keep you enthralled and completely engrossed in the story. There were times where I would get sad and conflicted (especially because I developed a crush on both Grizz AND Grunt, another MC brother), but the way the story slowly unfolded was pure genius. When you get to the ending, things just started spiraling and by the time all the secrets came out, I was SHOCKED and wanting book two immediately. Is it a cliffhanger? Yes & no. It’s hard to explain, but I just want more!!

Bravo, Ms. Flynn! Bravo.
