#Review ~ Twisted (Tangled #2) by Emma Chase

Title: Twisted
Author: Emma Chase
Series: Tangled #2
Release Date: March 25, 2014

Synopsis:
There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself – and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice, the most important of my life. Drew already made his –in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville. Alone. Well, sort of alone....

What I've come to realize is that old habits die hard and sometimes you have to go back to where you began, before you can move ahead.

TWISTED picks up two years after Tangled’s end, and is told from Kate’s POV.

Four Stars

I am going to start right off by telling you that I enjoyed Twisted as much as I did Tangled! So much so, that I read it literally in one sitting!

Twisted picks up two years after the supposed HEA of Tangled, only....not so much! This story is told mostly from Kate's POV (although Drew chimes in there at the end) and although there are some laugh out loud moments, for the most part this story is not a feel good story, well most of it isn't anyway. Ok, let me explain.

Most of this story based on a REALLY HUGE MISUNDERSTANDING!!! You, as the reader will pick up on it right away, you should anyway, if you're any good at this I mean :) and you will want to completely strangle Kate and Drew (a lot Drew) for not communicating better and letting all of this sadness and heartache happen!

However, this is why I love Kate and Drew, they have the ability to make me laugh, then ugly cry and then laugh again so hard I snort! Yeah, I love these kinds of stories. I am not going to really give anything away, especially since I was lucky enough to get this baby as an ARC! I will say when all is said and done everyone is in love and harmony again, it is a rough go there for awhile but you will love every minute, I swear!!

I will leave you with a little example of why we love Drew....

"I thought your cunt was magnificent before, but now that I see what it's really capable of? It's reached superhero status in my book. In fact, I think that's what we should name it." I lift my hands envisioning a giant billboard. "Incred-a-Pussy."

See what I mean....how can a girl resist that??

***This book was provided to me as an ARC by Netgalley!

Excerpt

“Maybe you shouldn’t kiss strangers…” His words came out as a growl. “That’s a real bad habit, princess.”
She nodded, but then said, “Desperate times can call for desperate actions.”
Those sure weren’t the words he’d expected. He leaned toward her.
            “You’re Drake Archer.”
“Guilty.”  He’d confessed to owning the casino, so her knowing his identity wasn’t exactly a huge surprise.  He’d made headlines in the Vegas press when he opened the Archer’s Arrow Casino a month before. He owned four other casinos, but three of them were in Biloxi, Mississippi, and his biggest place was in New Orleans.
He was already jonesing for a trip back to the Big Easy. That place had become home for him.
And I’ll be heading home very soon.
She smiled up at him. Her smile took him off-guard because he hadn’t anticipated the woman’s dimples. Cute, curving dimples that winked on either side of her mouth.
The lady was sexy. She had deep, dark bedroom eyes. Curves that made him hard.
            And…a damn cute smile.
“Thanks for being my hero tonight, Drake Archer.”

He had to laugh at that. “Trust me, I’m not exactly hero material.” He was more used to playing the villain of the piece.

Release Day Launch ~ Invincible by Alana Albertson

RDL

Synopsis

I’ll be honest with you—I’m no hero. Sure—the media tries to brand every Navy SEAL as some kind of Batman dressed in cammies. There’s even a line in one of our cadences—”superman is the man of steel, he ain’t no match for Navy SEAL.” You’ve seen the movies—we’re indestructible, invincible, invulnerable. But that night, the one you read about in the papers—all I really wanted to do was get laid. One harmless fuck with a Curaçao whore—no strings attached. I picked her out of a lineup—wild, dark hair, long legs and a crooked smile. After she sucked me off, I relaxed back onto the creaky, cum-stained cot, thankful for the blissful moments she gave me when I actually forgot for a second the faces of my buddies who died because I made the wrong call, the tears of the children I couldn’t save, and the eyes of the enemies I slaughtered during their last seconds of life. But before I left, her green eyes peered into my soul. She whispered in a distinct So Cal accent, “My name is Annie Baylis. I’m an American citizen. I was kidnapped from a cruise ship five years ago. You’re my last hope. Please save me.” One desperate plea. This wasn’t a Hollywood blockbuster or a New York Times best-selling thriller. I knew that this time there was no room for excuses, no margin for errors. I had one chance to put the cape on and be her hero.

4.75-5 Stars

Shock has a way of rousing attention.

It’s official. Pam Godwin has become one of my go-to authors. I LOVED her previous book, Beneath the Burn, and was anxious to read her next novel. This did not disappoint. The premise of the story is unique and very intriguing; there was no way I could pass it up.

She trained them. She delivered them. And after?
They were dead to her. They had to be.

Liv, at first glance, seemed like complicated character. She’s gritty, badass, and has a don’t-fuck-with-me attitude. But beneath that armor lays a woman with a simple mission: Keep her mother and daughter safe. In order to do so, she must play her role as a deliverer. She hunts, takes, trains and then delivers. That’s the only way to ensure their safety. So far, she’s been able to live this way, until her next captive, Joshua Carter, completely changes the game.

He was the strength and heart of the most dangerous jump. He was the soul of bravery wrapped in chains. He would never fall, no matter how much metal weighted him down. He was a man who loved selflessly and honestly, and she was taking him to a monster who would slice him open and fuck the incision.

Joshua Carter’s life was paved with rules, religion, and beliefs. He’s the epitome of the good-ole-wholesome boy next door. To Liv, he met all the requirements the next buyer wanted. She knew taking Josh was a risk, especially since he was a very well known football star, but she had no choice.

Josh was tricked and the next thing he knew, the life he knew was stripped away. He was now in the hands of Liv. His future unknown. What he didn’t expect is to connect with his beautiful captor. He knows there’s more to Liv’s story than what she presents. He won’t make it easy on her and is determined to find the inevitable crack her armor.

Her fingers grabbed the hair on the back of his head and yanked, exposing his neck. Her lips caressed his ear, and his penis throbbed. “Stop. Grinding. Your dick.” She released him a shove. “Kinky fucker.”
Crack.

I was going into this wondering, “how in the hell is this situation going to work?” It seemed the story was cut and dry and that both the H/h were stuck between a rock and hard place.

Boy, was I Wrong.

This story had a lot of twists and surprises. It amazed me that the plot was so mercifully crafted to make this a very engaging read. I wanted to know how the author was going to make this situation work. I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I will warn you, there were a lot of cringe-worthy-creep-the-hell-out-of-me moments (i.e. I will never look at a potato sack nor a wooden coffin and not be freaked out ever again), but the story wouldn’t have had the same effect without it. I had complete faith that Ms. Godwin would deliver a fantastically dark story, and Deliver she did.

About the Author

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
