I'll Be Home For Christmas (Coming Home #2.6) by Jessica Scott

There's nothing in the world Army Sergeant Vic Carponti loves more than his wife and his country. Smart-mouthed and easy tempered, he takes everything as a joke . . . except his promise to come home to his wife, Nicole, for Christmas. As he prepares to leave for his latest deployment into Iraq, Vic will do everything he can to shield his beautiful, supportive wife from the realities of war . . . and from his own darkest fears.

As a career army wife, Nicole Carponti knows just what to expect from her husband's tour of duty: loneliness, relentless worry, and a seemingly endless countdown until the moment Vic walks through the door again. But when the unthinkable happens, Nicole and Vic's bond is tested like never before and changes everything they believe to be true about the power of love and the simple beauty of being home for the holidays.

Release Date: November 5, 2013

Five Stars

Vic Carponti is one character that I still think about every so often since reading Because of You. He's the guy that cracks jokes and makes everyone laugh. I just found his fun personality to be quite infectious and memorable. When I found out Jessica Scott was giving Vic Carponti his own story, I just about peed in my pants with excitement!

For fans of Vic and Nicole, you will not be disappointed in this story! I'll Be Home For Christmas coincides with events taking place from Because of You. If you're familiar with that story, then you already know what happens to Carponti. This story fills in the gaps that we didn't see going on behind the scenes. Don't worry, even if you haven't read book #1, this story can still be enjoyed as a beautiful novella on its own. It just might make you want to pick up Because of You just to find out what happens to Sergeant Garrison.

I am happy to report that Ms. Scott kept Carponti true to his character. Boy, is he funnier than ever! Even the story of how he and Nicole met is classic Carponti! Vic and Nicole are more than just a couple who have a blast when they are together. We get to see their heartbreaking goodbye as Vic is deployed to Iraq. I loved how each of their fears and emotions were laid out, and how they managed to cope and stay connected during this time. He really does live to make his wife smile and laugh.

Overall, this short story has a great blend of humor, raw reality of what military spouses and families face during separation, and heartfelt holiday romance. If anything, this has made me love Carponti even more! A wonderful addition to the Coming Home series.

Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5) by Colleen Hoover

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.
I only have one complaint about this book....

IT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH!!! I WANT MORE DANIEL & SIX!!!!

I want to tell you all how much I FREAKING LOVED THIS STORY!!!

This was a wonderful story from beginning to end, an end I didn't want to ever happen!! We got to know a little tiny bit about Daniel and Six in Hopeless and I didn't really give either of them a whole lot of thought. Silly me, because there story was fantastic!! I liked them both well enough but you are so wrapped up in Holder and Skye that you never give a second thought to these secondary characters.

For as short as this story was there was even a shocker 'Holy Shit' moment in there. Which I loved, btw! Along with some heartwarmingly sweet moments and some tears!

I don't want to give anything in this sweet little story away so I will only say that if you have read Hopeless and Losing Hope than Finding Cinderella is a MUST!!

Hell, anything Colleen Hoover writes is a MUST, but you get my drift!!

Blog Tour: Falling for the Marine (McCade Brothers #2) by Samanthe Beck

Sweet Spot Book Blog is excited to be part of the blog tour for Samanthe Beck's latest release! We have an interview, excerpt, review and a giveaway!

~ Interview with Samanthe Beck ~

Hi Grace! First off, a huge THANK YOU for having me at sweetspotbookblog.com! I’m thrilled to kick off my blog tour for “Falling for the Marine” with you.

What do you think readers will like about the main couple, Chloe and Michael?
They are your classic “opposites.” Chloe’s a free-spirited, somewhat scattered massage therapist with a big heart and even bigger emotional baggage. Michael’s a toe-the-line, USMC major who is definitely not looking for an entertaining bundle of trouble like Chloe. (But sometimes life throws us exactly what we’re not looking for)!
What was your favorite scene to write in this book?
I loved writing so MANY scenes in this book. These characters were just too damn fun. But for favorites, I think the opening chapter and the last chapter are a tie for me.
Can you share with us a little of what you're currently working on?
Next up is book 3 of the McCade Brothers series…Michael’s little brother Logan’s story. I’m super-excited about this one because: (1) I’ve found the perfect girl for adventurous, outgoing Logan, (and she’s a bit of a vixen beneath her shy, unassuming exterior); & (2) the story is part of a continuity I’m doing with NYT/USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert, NYT/USA Today bestselling author Jen McLaughlin, (writing as Diane Alberts), and award-winning author Tessa Bailey. All four books are set around a destination wedding in Beaver Creek, CO. NYT/USA Today bestselling author Laura Kaye is writing the prequel, featuring the wedding couple!

~ Quickie questions ~

Current favorite song or band?
Me and my girl Hayson Manning, (crazy-talented Indulgence author of “Wife in Name Only” and “Winning the Boss’s Heart”), have been trading Brandi Carlile songs on YouTube. Brandi could sing the phone book and I’d listen. “The Story,” “That Wasn’t Me,” “Turpentine”…they’re all so good.
Sweet or savory?
Sweet. The people at the local Crumbs Bakery know me by name.
Read anything good lately?
I just beta read an AMAZING novel by a ridiculously talented author named Alison Bliss. I hope she’s gonna sign with Entangled and be part of their Edge line. And speaking of Entangled’s Edge line, can I just say…ahem…Lauren Blakely, “Far Too Tempting”?

~About Falling for the Marine~

Pretending to be in love has never felt so sexy.

USMC helicopter pilot Michael McCade has two goals: Get his damn back into alignment and keep his nose clean until his commanding officer clears him to fly again. The doctor-recommended massage therapy seems like a necessary step toward returning to the cockpit, but when his too-hot-to-handle neighbor, Chloe Kincaid, turns out to be his masseuse, he strays from the straight and narrow in a major way.

Chloe Kincaid is looking for a simple, no strings attached, ego-boosting hook up. But when her positively panty-melting neighbor, USMC Major Michael McCade, (aka “Major Hottie”), shows up on her massage table, she lets desire get the better of professionalism. Now they’re pretending to be engaged to avoid a whole lot of unanticipated consequences of a momentary lapse in judgment. But can a girl who avoids attachments at all costs fake an engagement to a straight-arrow soldier without falling hard?

~Excerpt~
The sheet rode low across Michael’s lap. Chloe grabbed it and flung it to the floor.

Her fingers found him at the same time she looked down.

Ohmigod. He was huge. Some very personal muscles tightened at the glorious sight. The thought of him thrusting into her oh-so-neglected body, filling her until she cried out from the sweet strain of having him inside her, sent shivers shimmying through her.

He closed his hand around hers, and showed her how he liked to be handled. At the same time, he kissed his way from her breast to her ear. “How do you like it?”

“It’s stunning. I haven’t seen one this impressive in a long time.” A looong time.

His laugh tickled her ear and made her shiver all the more. “I meant, do you like it slow and steady or hard and fast?”

“Fast,” she gasped. “It’s got to be fast.”

He rocked her again. “Fast and rough?”

“I promise not to rough you up.”

“No deal. I want you to rough me up good, because I’m not stopping until you lose control—until you rake my ass with your fingernails, and sink your teeth into my shoulder to keep from screaming, “Faster, Michael, fuck me faster,” at the top of your lungs. And when I finally let you come, it’s going to be brutal. You’ll take days to stop trembling. Are you ready for that?”

4.5 – 5 Stars

Chloe and Michael fall hard for each other in Falling for the Marine. If you love fun, sexy reads with little angst that includes a dreamy military man, then step right up, because this story is delicious!

Even before the massage table comes into play (waggles eyebrows), Chloe and Michael meet at a very awkward moment. Really, I just had to giggle at this particular scene at the beginning, and it sure does set the tone for the rest of the story. Desire and sparks fly really quick for these two. When a certain line gets crossed, they must deal with their situation the best way they know how. Michael (aka Major Hottie and middle McCade brother) is used to order and control. He's ready to settle down. Although impulsive and commitment-phobic, Chloe is also goal-oriented and free-spirited. I loved this about her. This is definitely an opposites attract story where the two main characters are highly insatiable for each other. Samanthe Beck sure knows how to deliver in that area...get ready to fan yourself!

Falling for the Marine is filled with both laugh-out-loud and tender moments. Pretty much all the characters have vibrant personalities. Can this be read as a standalone? Yes!!! Although I've read Lover Undercover (oldest McCade brother's story) and Wicked Games (from the Lovers Unmasked anthology) previously, I found very little overlap. Did you know there are three McCade brothers?! I'm ready and waiting for the next one!
