I think Kait Ballenger launches her Execution Underground paranormal series to an amazing start with the prequel Shadow Hunter.

Damon Brock is a vampire hunter who seeks to avenge the death of his friend and partner. He quickly finds out he’s not the only one with this goal in mind. Tiffany Solow is hell bent on working alone to find the vampire who murdered her older brother. She had no idea that this personal mission would unite her with the one person who she blames for her loss.

Shadow Hunter is a fast-paced read filled with thrilling and vivid action scenes. The world building has great potential for some exciting, dark, and dangerous storylines in this supernatural underworld. I also found the gory twist with the vampires quite interesting! Damon and Tiffany were well-matched, strong characters. I liked the whole letter writing aspect to the story. I thought the letters quickly helped forge their connection, flame the tension, and help fan the romance in a short time. What an exhilarating gateway to this series! Once you read Shadow Hunter, you will definitely want to grab book 1, Twilight Hunter, right away!

200-plus years is a long time to deny your feelings for someone, but when Cici asks for Deacon's help, he can't refuse her. See, it all began with a promise Deacon had made to her father. Wowza! This is one dark-vampy-delicious read! Cici is such a great character. She's a vampire who is a hopeless romantic. She believes in the forever kind of love so much that she has made it her job to help others find their soul mates. Dark and broody Deacon is her total opposite, and thinks he can easily move on after any short fling with Cici.

Robin Covington swept me away with the world-building and rich characters in this story! I got drawn into Cici and Deacon's history, how they lived their immortal lives and co-exist with humans. I thought their friends Mya and Andy were so fascinating. This story is about 143 pages, and there's no doubt I wanted more of everything; however, I did find the plot highly enjoyable and refreshing with Cici becoming mortal as it says in the synopsis. There's also a huge twist! Do I recommend Sex and the Single Vamp? If you're a paranormal romance lover and seek a steamy, quickie read, YES!

Lust clawed through him. The need, the red-hot desire, seemed to burn Ben from the inside.  He grabbed Simone, yanked her flush against him. His mouth locked on hers. He’d always tried to be so careful with her in the past. Played the gentleman because she mattered.

If you're looking for quick vampire reads that tug at your heart, consider reading Laura Kaye's Vampire Warrior Kings series. One of the things why I continue to enjoy this series is because each installment takes part in a different part of the world. In Taken by the Vampire King, the reader is transported to beautiful Norway.

Vampire Warrior King, Henrik Magnusson is ill. He's dying and has pretty much accepted his fate. As the fight against the Soul Eaters continue, Henrik rescues a woman who he seems to be undeniably drawn to. Will she be able to save him?

I think for me the first book, In the Service of the King, has been my favorite of the series thus far. It was my first introduction to this particular vampire world. With that being said, Ms. Kaye does a great job explaining this vampire world in each book making them wonderful, novella-length, standalone reads.

I just loved the setting and the insights to the Northern Lights in Taken by the Vampire King. As someone who has never seen these natural light displays in real life, I found the mythology behind the Aurora Borealis to be quite fascinating! Henrik and Kaira find they have a lot of things in common. Their romance is a heart-warming one!
