Five Stars

The Letter is a novella gem! Sergeant Rick Week seeks out Hattie Jameson with a very heavy heart. He has to deliver a letter…

“Every solder wrote that letter. The missive that would be sent should the worst happen.”

I’m not going to lie. Since this is a novella, sparks fly right away between Rick and Hattie, but what I love about The Letter is that Mina Carter puts so much heart in the way she tells their story. These are two people who have experienced something so tragic, with Billy, Hattie’s fiancé and Rick’s friend, as the common bond between the two.  Rick and Hattie meet at a time in both their lives where the possibility of love is good. Time has passed, the pain has healed a bit and now they deserve to be with someone special. The emotions were described so realistically, my gosh! The stuff that went down with Rick and Billy put my heart through the wringer. Mina Carter also made me believe in Rick and Hattie’s romance that I cried happy tears! This story touched my heart in every way.

Did I mention that Rick is Scottish? Oh, yes, he is! He’s traveled a long way from home. I also loved how this story relates to the calendar mentioned in the series.

“Are ye sure about this, lass? Once I put you down,” color branded his cheeks, “I’ll no’ be able to stop.”

Set around the Fourth of July in the US, The Letter is a perfect fast-paced, romantic, steamy read for the summer, or any time of year, really! If you’re a fan of romance novellas with military heroes, then you absolutely need to meet Sergeant Rick Week…Mr. July! Loved, loved, loved!!!

The Calendar Men Blog:
All the stories in the Calendar Men series are standalone, steamy novellas.

About the author
Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.

Frontier Inferno (#CalendarMen 4) by Kate Richards #decadentpub

Romance takes a backseat for single dad Chris Elder, while he focuses on his young son and his job as a firefighter/smokejumper in the small community of Castle. But the arrival of the feisty woman from the lower forty-eight may prove more than his resolutions, or his libido, can handle.

Can the magic of Alaska save these two from a lonely future, or will circumstances force them to step back from their Frontier Inferno?

I think this is my favorite cover thus far in the Calendar Men series!!!

Heather gets off the train at Castle, Alaska in search for work. She immediately meets Billy Elder and his dad. Hello, Mr. April!!! Chris Elder is an Aussie living in Alaska. Should I mention, too, that he's a firefighter/smokejumper? He's a single, hardworking dad who is solid, strapping, and...well, you get the picture (smirks).

I've heard about the abundance of single men in Alaska looking for love. When Chris meets Heather, he is definitely interested and doesn't waste time. The story is fast-paced and entertaining. The small town and people are friendly and welcoming. There's some danger, a tad of mystery surrounding the heroine, and plenty of HEAT! I only have one question. Why can't this charity calendar be real? :)

Five Stars

Helena is a supermodel who begins emailing a US Marine overseas. She doesn't tell him exactly who she is in the beginning hoping that he will get to know and like her inner beauty rather than her public image. Wow! Hello, Mr. March! The banter in the emails are friendly, fun and get a bit naughty. I loved that they had forged some sort of connection before even meeting. Helena and Seth are a playful couple who create some pretty steamy scenes! The New York fashion scene for the setting was nicely done as well. If you like short stories that are fast-paced and hot, hot, hot, you will definitely enjoy Seducing Helena.

The Calendar Men series is a novella series that surrounds a fictional charity calendar. Each story reveals how the particular month's hot hero came to pose for the calendar. All the stories have a different couple, a different setting, and definitely on the steamy side.

February Lover is set in New Orleans. After 15 years military hero, Aidan Roux, finally comes home for a brief visit, but that visit is unexpectedly extended. While Aidan is in town for the entire month, he offers his ex a proposition.

...we could be together for February. I can promise you it would be so hot you wouldn't regret it. Ever.”

February Lover is a second chance/reunion story. I loved that Aidan and Stacey have known each other since they were kids. There are some good reasons why Aidan wanted to stay away all these years. This novella is very short (about 50 pages). I was quickly immersed right from the beginning and wanted their story to keep going and going...

Four Stars

Hello, Mr. January!!!

JoAnne Kenrick kicks off the Calendar Men series Down Under in her steamy novella, Outback Dirty!

While in New York, Chris Ruter met Janine when he volunteered to model for a calendar. Things were going well until she broke his heart. Now Chris is living in the Australian outback. Then Janine turns up out of the blue one day, and things really start to get dirty between the two!

Oh wow! This is my first time reading anything from JoAnne Kenrick, and I'm impressed! Chris is a sensitive guy. It's been about a year since the break-up, and he still can't get his ex out of his mind. Then she's suddenly there, and he's expecting to have his heart broken all over again...poor guy!

I adore second chance stories and quite enjoyed this novella. As I kept reading, I really got into the story. Janine is ambitious, and her history combined with Chris' heartbreak brought a little angst. All the secondary characters were friendly and fun. The outback setting was so beautifully written. Wowza, the love scenes were hot, hot, hot! If you're in the mood for something short and sexy, I don't think you can go wrong with Outback Dirty. I'm looking forward to meeting Mr. February in February Lover by Rebecca Royce!
