Crossing the Line (Battered Hearts #3) by Kele Moon

Wyatt Conner is a hard man. A sixth generation sheriff in his hometown of Garnet. A former MMA fighter. His life is about following the rules and making sure everyone else in Garnet follows them too.

Before life hurt him, Wyatt was different. Love had once blinded him to his upbringing and made him defiant against anyone who tried to separate him from the girl he loved. He easily broke laws to ensure her safety.

When she left it destroyed him.

Now she's back.

Tabitha knew coming home was a mistake, but family obligation demanded it. She wasn’t expecting to run smack into the love of her life the same day she returned.

Despite the danger, Tabitha is powerless against the wild rush of desire that explodes between them the moment she finds herself in Wyatt’s arms again. She needs a second chance too, but she can't risk Wyatt finally discovering the real reason she left.

Even for another taste of true love.

Tabitha knows her haunted past will destroy both of them if Wyatt finds out. What she suffered through was too terrible and it's the one thing that will have him crossing the line for revenge.
Four Stars

Between pain and regret, the sweetness still lingers, and in that ray of light I cry out to you – Why.

I’m a big fan of this series. It has lots of drama, lots of steam and lots of emotion. This series has been advertised as one of those MMA/Fighter books, but honestly, this series is so much more. Yes, the Heroes that are in this series were (or are) still in MMA, but the stories don’t really revolve around that world. The story actually focuses more on their lives outside the ring. This book centers on Wyatt & Tabitha.

“I’ve loved you since kindergarten. I saw that bright red hair across the room and I thought, ‘someday I’m gonna marry that girl.’”

We first met Wyatt in book one. He’s Garnet’s sheriff and best friend of MMA fighter, Clay Powers. We find out that Wyatt’s love life is a bit of a mystery. He’s married, but he and his wife have been apart for last the thirteen years. Throughout the years, one thing remains: He still loves that girl he first set his eyes on a long time ago.

“I’m your husband,” Wyatt interrupted, his low voice filled with pain. “Taking care of you was supposed to be my job.”

Tabitha did not want to return to Garnet where her past is constantly haunting her. She’s back to take care of her aloof mother. I say aloof only because I think the woman is completely delusional. You’ll see exactly why. Her success as an author helps her support her mother and stay away from the town that held too many tragic memories, including her relationship with Wyatt.

But before I continue, I have to clarify something. Wyatt and Tabitha’s relationship is complicated -- Holy mother, is it ever complicated. But one thing remains: They love each other. Always have, always will. I think that’s why I really enjoyed this book. They were apart for so many years, but they remained faithful to each other. The story takes us back to the past and present of their relationship. We really get to know how they came to be a couple and why they were ripped apart. Oh and when it did happen…OMG! It broke my heart.

I loved the roller coaster ride that is Wyatt & Tabitha. They were both such great characters. To find out both never waivered from their commitment, just made me even love them more. And I just adored Wyatt. He loved her and only her. I’m glad they found their happiness because honestly no couple deserved it more. Excellent read.
